Well, it's official. We will be having a little boy come July 30th!!! We found out today that our little Max Bradley is on his way!!! We're very excited and by we and mean Scott and me. Lexi is not so ok with it. I told her mommy is having a boy and she said, "No boys!!! Girl!!". I said it's a little brother and she said, "No brother, mom!!" Guess she'll just have to deal with it in a couple months!!!

#2!!!!

6 weeks

So, it's definitely been a long time since I posted. facebook is just so much easier that this blog has fallen by the wayside. Let's see updates in our life....Lexi turned 2, we went to Disneyland for Scott's birthday in December and.... oh yeah!!! We're expecting number 2!!! We are due July 30th!! We will be finding out what we're having on February 6th and can't wait!!! I'll update a lot of pics so everyone can see what's been going on....

So what's been going on in the Rook's life.... just a lot of busyness. Lexi is now 22 months and is talking all the time. She is into everything and is a little sponge. She is constantly surprising us with new words and keeping us entertained. Scott was in school all summer and is now taking a full load this fall. We think he has about 3 or 4 more semesters, so there is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!! He switched his major to finance with a minor in economics. Art classes took too much time and he really enjoys business. I'm still working part time at sunrise, well sorta. Our census has been low lately so I've been getting a lot of extra "vacation" time.

Half Way Cookies

These cookies have meant Christmas to me for as long as I can remember.

Ingredients

1 cup butter

1/2 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

2 egg yolks

1 tbsp water

1/2 tsp vanilla

Sift together following items:

2 cups flour

1/4 tsp salt

1 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp baking soda

Topping:

12 oz chocolate chips

1 cup light brown sugar

2 egg whites

Mix together all top ingredients, press out flat on greased cookie sheet and cover with chocolate chips.

Beat egg whites with brown sugar into a meringue. Spread over chocolate chips.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 min. Top should be golden brown.

Cut into bars.

I now have lost 89 pounds!!! I've gone from a size 20 to a size 10!!! I was a size 8/10 when we got married so I'm just about there. My goal is only 20 pounds away!!! Because I'm working out, I weigh more than I did last time I was a size 10, so when I get down there I should be even smaller than when I got married!! Here are some comparison pics and my motivation to never be that weight again!!! I've been doing weight watchers which is great cause it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change and working out 3-4 days a week. Oh yeah, i also just chopped all my hair off ;-)

I have gotten so lazy about updating this blog, sorry. We went to california about a week ago and went to the aquarium in Long Beach, the LA temple and the Santa Monica pier. Lexi had a lot of fun at the aquarium trying to go swimming with the sting rays, she just has no fear. She liked the beach as long as her feet weren't in the sand. Lexi absolutely HATES her hands and feet being dirty. I mean she stops doing anything if they get dirty and makes sure I come and clean them.

I can't believe my baby girl is 18 months old! Where as the time gone??? I feel like I just brought her home. She does so many new things everyday, it just amazes me. She might drive me crazy at times but I wouldn't trade her for anything. Here are some things that she's up to now.

She started sleeping in a big girl bed at about 16 months. She loves her bed. It's a twin size bed by Flexa. It has side rails all around with a small opening for her to get out and in out of and a cave for her to sleep in.
She still gets up about once a night, but that is ok cause she's such a stingy eater, we like being able to get a little more milk in her.
She still absolutely LOVES babies. Her dolly now has a car seat and must come with us.
She knows the signs for eat, milk, more, all done, and drink. She also says the words for all the signs except drink.
her vocabulary is expanding everyday. Here are some of her words. NO(her favorite, not so much mine), no done, no go, go, bike, dolly, baby, eat, more, outside, mama, daddy, mickey, manny, dora, minnie(noticing a pattern), pooh, pee, potty, diaper, bum bum, tub, doggy, kitty, cracker, chocolate, ok, fish, cheese, ears, eyes, toes, car, bubbles, color, cool, good girl, wee, swing,hi, hello, keys, juice, wow, uh oh, mine, cupcake, water, all done, shoes, pretty, night night, turkey, back pack, I got you, slide, all gone, all done.
She loves to dance to any music that comes on.
She can now reach the counters so we no longer have any safe places.
She loves bubbles and will try and pop them.
She likes coloring, too bad it's hard to keep her doing it on paper ;-)
She climbs on anything and everything. she's my little monkey.
She will go up the ladder and down the slide all by herself, no help needed. Scares mommy to death!!!
She still is a stinky eater, but that's just our life!!! She will not drink out of a sippy cup anymore, only a juice box, dixie cup or straw will do.
She knows how to turn on the tv and will bring me the remotes to turn on mickey.

New Toys

Mommy and Lexi's new toy. She loves riding around while being able to eat her snacks and drink her juice. I got a great deal on the trailer and bike at Target. The trailer was on sale for $139!!!! Everywhere else I looked it was about $250 and up!!! I also got the bike for me for $100!!!

Lexi's new big girl bike!!! I love that her doll can go with her. She will pedal a little but is still learning. She loves it and will even wear her helmet when we're outside ;-).

This last Monday Scott and I went on our first trip without Lexi!!! We went to Magic Mountain and had a blast!!! We didn't have to pack a backpack that weighs a thousand pounds, we just put money in Scott's wallet, my id in my pocket and off we went. We ate when we wanted and didn't have to worry about nap times, snack times or meal times!!! We went with our good friends, Michelle & Kelly, and enjoyed every minute. It was nice to spend some fun time with my husband and just play. I thought I'd have a hard time, but I didn't and Lexi didn't seem to even know we were gone. I'm actually ready to do it again!! :o)

So I know Easter was like a week and a half ago but here's my easter post. We spent the day before Easter going to our ward Easter breakfast and letting Lexi go on her first easter egg hunt. She did great, went over to the eggs, picked them up and put them in her basket. She also opened them, got out the reese's peanut cup, opened it and ate it herself. We then went to the fair. Lexi loved riding a pony and rode a bunch of carnival rides by herself.

On sunday we went to church and then had my dad, his wife, my little brother, Bryan, Anna and Bryanna over for Easter dinner. We had a honeybaked ham with all the trimmings. I decided to make a pineapple upside down cake which was a tradition with my grandma when I was younger. I pretty proud of how it came out. It looked and tasted great!!!

Lexi's "swimming pool"

So we got back form Missouri about a week ago. It was really great to see my grandma, cousin and uncles. It was great to have them meet Lexi. The plane ride there wasn't too bad. There were open seats so I brought Lexi's car seat on. We flew out at 845 so I woke her up early and drugged, I mean gave her some tylenol and benedryl. She slept half of the flight, but i forgot to bring anything for myself to do when she felt asleep. Which is funny because my plan planned on her sleeping!!! I had a suitcase of toys and a diaper bag full of coloring books, dvd player, mickey mouse and winnie the pooh dvds and candy but nothing for me. She woke up and we had candy and watched Mickey. We had fun hanging out with my grandma. Lexi liked being able to run around outside and she especially loved pulling everything she could off my grandma's shelfs, sorry grandma!!!! She also decided to take a "swim" in a puddle that was outside my grandma's house. The trip home wasn't as fun. We were due to fly out at 155. When e got to the airport they said there were no open seats so I couldn't bring the seat on. I thought that was weird cause I had checked the website and there were still open seats. But I knew that was a possibility so I just went with it. The security check had me open her pediasure so they could test it and wanted me to open her juice box, but I convinced them to not have me do it since you can't reseal a juice box!!! Vegas didn't even bat an eye at the milk and juice I brought on, but springfield was acting like they're weren't going to let me!!!! So, Lexi fell asleep about 20 min before we boarded and woke up as we were boarding and was just screaming!! The doors to the plane were closed and there were about 10 seats open and one of them was the one RIGHT NEXT TO ME!!!!! She finally fell back asleep and slept half the flight, too bad it was on me, so I was stuck in the same position. We had fun but were happy to be home!!!!

and I know when I'll be back again. I'm taking off tomorrow for Missouri to go see my grandma. Lexi's never been on a plane so we'll see how it goes. I spent a bunch of money on candy and toys she's never seen. I have benadryl and tylenol at the ready and wish I could "borrow" some chloral or versed(I'm not picky) from work. So wish me luck and I hope I make it back alive. I'm really thinking I'm going to be the one who needs the drugs!!! Oh yeah did I mention my husband's not coming with me?!? So until later.....

So it's been beautiful in Vegas the last couple of days. It's been 75-80 degrees which is wonderful. We usually only get about a 2 week window of spring before it's too hot to even think about going outside. Today i found Lexi's swimsuit for this summer and couldn't resist trying it on her.

15 months and other things.....

Sorry, no pics this post. My camera is already packed and I really have no desire to find it. We are moving this sat into a rental home. It's just down the street and we got the keys at the beginning of the month, so i have spent March moving things over to the new house while trying not to step on, drop things on, trip over or knock down my 15 month old, who just wants to help ;-). In all of this Lexi turned 15 months which entailed another lovely trip to the pediatrician for mommy to be tortured, I mean for Lexi to get shots. She is such a joyful child afterwards. Not that I blame her, I hate needles, one of those funny conundrums(oooo, big word.. are you proud?), I have absolutely no problem sticking anyone else with needles but you better not come after me with one.I can't even watch when they take my blood!!! So anyways at this appt Lexi weighed in at 21lbs 9oz which put her in the 30th percentile!!! Yes, finally!!! She gained 2lbs 2oz since her one year which is absolutely awesome. I can now put her on just whole milk and stop breaking the bank to buy pediasure, which in case you don't know is $10 for 6 bottles(8 oz). Onto what she's doing now:

She will point, most of the time, to her ears, nose and belly button when asked.
She says keys, shoes, fish, kiss, daddy, mama, hi, baby, juice, this, kitty and doggy.
She can make the signs for all done and milk.
She jabbers all the time, especially if she gets a cell phone (by cell phone I mean an actual cell phone, remote control, calculator, ipod or anything else that might even remotely resemble a cell phone.)
She LOVES mickey mouse clubhouse and would watch it all day if I let her. She walks over to the tv points and says "this".
She loves dancing especially to the hot dog song on mickey mouse clubhouse.
She understands so much that it amazes me. Generally if I tell her to go get something or take something to someone she does it.
She knows that the garage opening means daddy is home.
She's getting better at eating especially(I use that word a lot, huh?) if it's mac&cheese or pizza.
She wants to hold hands with all kids.
She will wave bye bye and blow kisses at daddy or mommy when they leave and sometimes others, but usually after they leave.
She loves to color with crayons, pens and chalk.
Only 3 more months til nursery!!!! :-)

We did not buy another home. We are renting. It is a long story and not one I want to share on my blog. If you want to know, you can call me or email me, I have no problem telling you.

Today we let Lexi have a chance at eating pudding by herself, she thought it was great!!! She got it everywhere which is why we know strip her when we let her eat by herself. We also got a new tv and stand with our tax return and she has figured out how to open it and pull everything out. Yeah!!!

Today is an awesome day!!! I have officially lost ALL the baby weight plus 1/2 a pound!! So in total I have lost 60.5 lbs since I had Lexi!!!! I started really working to lose it all when she turned 10 months old and I quit nursing her. Since Oct. 5th I have lost 41.5 lbs!!! I am going to the gym 3-4 days a week and have been following weight watchers, which is the best ever because I can still have the foods I enjoy but it's all about portion control. i don't feel like I'm dieting, I'm just learning a new lifestyle. I still have about 50 more I want to lose to get to what i weighed when I got married. The miscarriage I had early in our marriage plus nursing school did not bode well for my weight. I'm working hard and I have a new joy in working out and getting myself in shape. I know it'll be a process but I've lost almost 50% of the weight I want to lose which is a great motivation. I'll keep you updated.

Lexi loves purses, and shoes. Mommy has obviously taught her well ;-). Well at least with the shoes. I'm not the biggest purse fan, I tend to use a purse until it "dies" or I'm tired of it. I just don't like the hassle of switching out my stuff. Lexi has obviously paid attention to mommy because she grabs her purse when it's time to leave and puts it on her shoulder.

Like the 80's flashback????

Today Lexi tuns 14 months. The time is going by so quickly and she is amazing to watch everyday. She just absorbs everything and I am constantly surprised at the things she does. I see my friend's newborns and it is hard to imagine that Lexi ever used to be that small. Here are a few things about her now.

She LOVES animals, especially dogs. If she sees one she tries to go after it while she is smiling and squealing with delight. She was trying to chase down a full grown boxer at the park. It's cute but a little nerve racking since I don't know the dogs she's trying to chase down!!
She walks everywhere. She also thinks she's big enough to do it without holding mommy or daddy's hand.
She says: mama, dada, kitty, juice, shoes, doggy, keys and kiss plus all the babble that I can only guess at ;-).
When it's time to leave if I say time to put on shoes, she walks to the closet where we keep all the shoes and waits at the door while saying shoes. Also if I open the closet she books it over and helps get the shoes out, whether they're the ones I want to wear or not.
She tries very hard to put on her own socks and shoes, it's just adorable.
I bought her a little disney princess purse and when it's time to go, she goes and gets it and puts it on her shoulder and walks to the door to wait to leave.
When she hears the garage door opening she goes and waits by the door, pounds on it and is smiling and jabbering for daddy to come in.
She goes to bed between 7 and 8 and gets up between 7 and 8.
She tries to hold hands with any other little kid.
She is still a punk about eating. she does like french fries, cheetos, fruit and pretty much anything with cheese. She still will only eat a few bites of something and then she is done. I also can't feed her anything she can't feed herself except frozen yogurt ;-).
She still LOVES dollys. She doesn't care what type or color. She wants them all.
If asked she will point to her bellybutton and her nose. She also will try and find YOUR bellybutton by lifting up your shirt.

Today i took Lexi to the gym playroom and there were no tears, no screaming, no vulcan death grip on mommy's neck.... She went right to the lady and mommy got a 60 minute cardio work out!!! It was AWESOME!!!!!!!!

What is this stuff in my toes!?!

So we got back from our trip on Sunday. It was a lot of fun, minus the sleeping arrangements;-). On friday we arrived at our hotel at 330pm and checked in. We got all our stuff settled and took off for Newport Beach. It was a gorgeous drive and and even more gorgeous destination. I miss living in California and having the beach just a short drive away. I grew up playing on the beach and really miss it and hate that my daughter doesn't get to have the experience more often. Lexi liked the beach especially wiggling her toes in the sand and chasing the seagulls, but what person doesn't like those things??? She liked the water but it was a little nippy so she wasn't to keen on standing in it like mommy but she liked mommy or daddy running away from it while holding her. We went to a great little restaurant called the Crab Cooker and had some amazing crab and swordfish. You already know about Saturday night so suffice it to say that Sunday was the same minus the screaming cause we didn't even attempt the playpen. We got up Saturday and headed over to "The Happiest Place on Earth"!!! Lexi's first ride was the carousel and then dumbo. She absolutely loved both. We then went on the circus train and as we were riding it started to POUR!!! We ran off and got on pinnochio and the rain hadn't let up so we bought some ponchos. Of course the rain stopped 10 minutes later and our $30 worth of ponchos were now useless. We then went on various rides including Pirates of the Carribean which Lexi fell asleep on, don't ask me how! The day was a lot of fun and Lexi had a blast on Buzz Lightyear, Finding Nemo and the Jungle Ride. Her favorite attraction though was the Enchanted Tiki Room. She danced and clapped was jabbered. She LOVED all the birds and the singing. On Sunday we went to California Adventure and Lexi wasn't really into anymore rides, but she did really enjoy the Playhouse Disney LIve show. we sat on the floor while they had mickey's clubhouse, little einsteins, handy manny and my friend's tigger and pooh performed. She was dancing and clapping and totally enthralled. We walked around and she preceded to do something she has never done (and mommy has been sooooo jealous when she's seen other kids do it), she fell asleep in her stroller!!! She took about an hour nap and woke up much happier. We left about 3 that day and stopped by grandma and grandpa Rook's house and hung out and ate dinner, THANKS!!! She had fun playing with her cousin and other family. The trip was great but we're happy to be home. we are already planning a trip with grandpa and grandma Litle and her Uncle Byron in July to go back!!!

Bedtime Woes...

If anyone has been reading this long then you know what a nightmare we've endured to get Lexi to a.)sleep and b.) do it on her own. I've been pretty proud of us. She goes to bed at 7 or 8(finally not 6!!!) and gets up around 8. Well, we found a way to cause our daughter to regress. I know why were we looking for one? We weren't. :-(. But it turns out sharing a hotel room with a one year just isn't a good plan!!! Lexi is very attached to her bed and wanted NOTHING to do with the playpen. We got a mini-suite so there's wall she was behind and can't see us, but that didn't make a difference, she still screamed as if I was tearing her limb from limb. If we were at home I could let her cry for awhile, if that sounds cold hearted then you have no idea what we went through!!! But in a hotel room I can't let her do that besides being rude to others I really don't want to acquaint myself with California CPS, call me crazy!!!

We'd finally get her to sleep and then the marching band staying above us would get going. i figure it must be a marching band cause who else could make that much noise walking??? Ok, ok probably some kids who just got back from Disneyland and coming off their sugar rush ;-). Scott is npt a violent guy but he wished for a gun!!! Well she slept until 1 and then woke up screaming bloodt murder again so she ended up in bed with us. Yep, folks that's right. If all else fails....GIVE IN!!! My number one motto in parenting. I'm ALL about whatever gets us sleep. So of course that meant I didn't sleep well a.)worried about rolling on her and killing her b.) worried about my husband doing the same thing and c.) one year olds are WIGGLY!!!! So now I'm up at 530am cause I figured I'd give up the fight. Happy birthday to me!!!!

dancer. I work at Home Depot and I told my daughter how hectic it was last

week before the blizzard hit. I told her we sold out every single shovel we
had, and then I found one more in the back room, and that several people
were fighting over who would get it. Her picture doesn't show me dancing
around a pole. It's supposed to depict me selling the last snow shovel we
had at Home Depot. From now on I will remember to check her homework more thoroughly

before she turns it in.

Lexi can walk by herself, she just generally choses not to. She's walking more and more everyday but she prefers holding your hand or crawling. I think she just wants to go fast and can't do it on her own so she doesn't. It's amazing watching her learn new things everyday.

ER's and sick parents...

I know it's been awhile since I have really posted, but things have been hectic around here. It all started about 2 weeks ago when Lexi started having liquid diarrhea, sorry if tmi but nothing is sacred to me, hazards of being nurse. ;-). It just wouldn't stop, she was going anywhere from 3 to 8 times a day. She pretty much wasn't eating and doing OK with milk but I wasn't anywhere near impressed. Her favorite thing to drink is juice boxes, but I couldn't give her that cause it would just make it worse. I did give her pedialyte, but she isn't a big drinker. After a week I took her in to see Dr. Jim. He said he thought it was just a stomach bug and to give it a couple more days and just keep trying to get her to drink, this was a monday. Well on Tues, she started coughing and being snotty, normal for this time of year, plus mommy wasn't feeling good and who knows what i bring home from work!!! So, now I really couldn't get her to eat and she was starting to refuse her milk also. Come thursday and I couldn't get down more than 2 oz every 3-4 hours and that was a fight!! She woke up from her nap and I took one look at her and was worried. She just looked sooooo sick and miserable. Oh, wait I forgot to add the Walmart run at 230am to get a humidifier and a new thermometer. I have one, but of course it takes about 12 minutes(ok and exaggeration) to read a temp and I'm barely able to wait that long let alone a 1 year old!!! So I check her temp and it's 101.5 so down goes tylenol. Throughout the day she kept spiking low grade temps. So back to the story... She pretty much hadn't peed all day and her fontanelle was sunken in and so were her eyes. I tried to just circumvent the system and take her in to see one of the attending docs at my work, gotta be some perks, but he had just left for the day. It's was 4:45, so her pediatrician was not an option. So we took her into the ER. She had a 101 temp when we got there and was just miserable. She got everything done to her and I have never been more grateful for what I do for a living than on Thursday. I'm grateful I have the training I do, I can see how parents get so freaked out. we do so many really mean things to kiddos. Not saying it was easy to watch, but I know what to expect and that it's better for her in the long run. So, they put a catheter in to get urine for a culture and all the got back was dark yellow syrup and had to really milk it just to get 2cc's!!!! They also took a stool sample, which I mean by suction and then stated an IV and took blood. So, she got it all and she let us know how much she hated it!!!! The doc also said she had a bilateral ear infection, so at least when she gets sick, she gets sick!!! So after 360cc of fluids, they sent us home with antibiotics. She was starting to perk up a little and eating a little better, but not much. We got a call on Saturday at 10pm saying that her blood culture was growing back bacteria and we needed to bring her in so the doc could take a look at her. So, we had to wake her up and it took sooo long to get her to sleep at night that we were dreading this!! She did fine though. We went back in, they took more blood, put in another IV, gave 400cc of fluids and a dose of IV antibiotics. the doc felt that it was probably just a contaminate but he wanted to be safe rather than sorry. She's doing better now. I'm actually writing this post while she's still sleeping!!!! She's still snotty and has a small cough, but no where as bad as she was. Now as for mommy and daddy.... we're trying to fight off our own colds by drugging ourselves with dayquil and nyquil.

Christmas was a lot of fun this year. Lexi got spoiled, but we decided that we'd rather do that. Neither one of us needed or wanted anything. The big hit was her power wheels and her dolls. She loves dolls more than anything. She's defiantly my little girly girl. She had a blast opening all the gifts, after about the first 2 she got the idea that there was stuff for her underneath the wrapping paper and ripped it open while peaking the entire time to see what was under every inch she unwrapped. I got some accessories for the Wii in my stocking and a new computer program for the mac. Scott got some tools and new cologne in his stocking.

So, I know everyone has already posted about it, but I have a great story to go with it. I was outside taking pics in the backyard and I closed the sliding glass door so Lexi wouldn't follow me out. Well, I'm talking to my dad on the phone and turn around to go back inside and realize that Lexi LOCKED me outside. I guess I should also tell you that I am in my jammies with only socks on!!! She had pressed the button down at the end of the sliding glass door that is an extra protection. As I am staring inside at her and she is laughing at me, I am thinking of how I am going to have to walk through the snow covering the rocks all the way around to my garage to get in. Then, Scott walks in, home almost 2 hours before he should be. I'm yelling through the door that Lexi locked me out and he can not stop laughing!!! I'm just glad he came home early cause I really didn't want to walk through the snow in socks!!! Lexi loved the snow and just kept looking at it and pointing, laughing and smiling!!!

Santa Visit

I was at the mall with a friend and decided to see what Lexi thought of Santa. Obviously, she didn't care for him. When I put her on his lap I asked the lady if I could take pics with my camera and she said fine. She also asked if I wanted her to take pics and I said, why not, we'll see how she does. As my friend took a pic another lady ran over saying we couldn't take pics with our camera if we weren't planning on buying pics. I said I was getting pics taken and also the other girl had said we could take pics with our own camera without making that stipulation. I went to look to look at the pics the girl took, a little upset, and not only was Lexi screaming but they were blurry. when I said that I didn't want them, she said, "well, she's screaming in the ones on your camera too!!!". I said, yeah I know, but I don't have to pay for them!!! If the pics weren't blurry and I already wasn't upset with their attitude, I might have bought some. I think I need to stay away from pics for awhile!!!

So, I know it's a little after the fact, but Lexi turned one on Dec. 5th!!!!! We had her party on Saturday and it was a blast!!!! She was the perfect little hostess and smiled and chatted with everyone. She completely decimated her cake and loved every minute of it!!!!

She jabbers all the time, we're in trouble when she actually starts talking!!!
She loves to run around while holding on to you or her push toy!!
She absolutely LOVES dolls and will do anything to get her hands on one.
She is still a picky eater, but I'm learning to let it go!!!!

So, I went and got pics done at JCP and am not really thrilled with them. The lady did get some cute pics, but considering that Lexi was cheesing the entire time, I don't know why there weren't more. The main reason I'm unhappy is because of their "customer service"(yes, it has to be in quotes because I don't agree it was anywhere near service!!!) I mad my appointment 1 1/2 months before hand and they call me the day before in the afternoon to tell me that the computer system has some glitches and the 9am appointment is double booked so I need to come in at 1010. i chose the 9 appt because I know how behind they get and that doesn't bode well for a one year old. I also made eye appt for Scott and me for 1115 and 1130. So, they finally start taking pics about 1030(late, see) and then I ask if I can come back and look at the pics cause we need to go get our eye exams done. They tell me NO and if I don't stay they will delete ALL my pics!!!! This just made me even madder then i was just heading in there!!!! I almost said do it, but the lady took me over to see my pics right then. I bought a couple, but they weren't what I expected. When I talked to them on the phone I asked if they had the big #1 for Lexi to take a pic with and they told me yes and they had a birthday cake also. When we got there. The number 1 was something Lexi held and the cake was a plastic dingy cake. We're going to get new pics on Friday at picture people and I'm pretty certain I'll be happy with them. I was trying to avoid picture people cause I'm a sucker for cute pics of my daughter and I will spend a fortune there. It's worth it to me if I get what I want. she's only 1 once and maybe I'm being picky but I get to!!!!

I know it's been awhile since I posted anything. Sorry!! Lexi's keeping me busy. She has 3 top teeth coming in all at once, so she's joyful ;-). All I do is chase her all day. I had a friend that asked me if she sat on the end of things when she sat and I had to reply "sitting, what's that?" She is a little speed demon and loves to get into everything. She's really close to walking. In fact, today she took her first steps!!!!! She did it about 5 times, 4 of them just one step and once she took 2 steps in a row!!!!! I won't be surprised if she's walking by her first birthday which is in a week!!! I can't believe that she's almost one. I don't know where the time has gone. We bought her a walker push toy and she doesn't walk with it, she runs and jabbers and laughs the whole time!!!! I'll try to get some pics up soon, but it may not be until after her party!!!

So, I saw this link on my friends blog and thought I'd check it out. I can't wait for her to post again. Reading it also makes me extremely grateful to be married and not be dating anymore. It makes me think back to the time in the single's ward, ok I know I wasn't there that long, and never wish to return there. The uncertainty, games and heartbreak, no thank you. I am sooooo grateful for my wonderful husband and that when we met there was no games or questions, we knew it was right. Scott is an amazing man who takes so good care of me and our daughter. I truly feel for the girl writing this post and hope that everything turns out for her. You have to read it from the beginning and i'm warning you that you will be hooked.

11 months old!!!

On November 5th Lexi turned 11 months old!!! I can't believe how time has flown!! In less than a month she will be a year old!!!! Everyday is such a new adventure for us. She is always exploring and picking up new things.

She has a dolly that she is completely attached to, it has to go to bed with her.
She goes to bed at 6pm and gets up between 5 and 6 in the morning.
She is one of the pickest eaters I know, if you try to put something on a spoon. she won't even try it!!
She LOVES going up the stairs. The minute the gate somes down she takes off like a rocket and is giggling the whole way to the stairs. She will not let us teach her to go down them, she wants to go down head first.
She loves the bath and splashing around.
She hates it when mommy takes her to the playroom at the gym.
She will walk while holding on to something and will reach up constantly for you to hold her fingers so she can walk.
She can stand for short periods of time on her own, but most of the time, she doesn't want to. She wants to constantly be moving!!!
She loves to take things out of purses, bags, etc!! She'll sometimes put them back in, but would rather take them out.

So here are just some really cute pics I got of Lexi. On a side note, Lexi's been having issues with gaining weight since about 7 months. I pretty sure I just wasn't producing enough milk for her. She wouldn't really eat very long or well and has decided that she doesn't really want solids. At 10 months I decided to stop nursing her and put her on 50/50 whole milk and pediasure. I has tried 4 different formulas and was tired of buying them just to throw them away. Her doc is ok with the whole milk cause she's still getting the nutrients from the pedisure. Well since then she has put on about 2 lbs!!!! So, she's doing great. She doesn't even seem to notice that nursing is gone and she is actually a lot happier since we stopped. So we were both ready.

Lexi has said her first word. It's probably not what you think though. It's not mama or dada, she says those sounds but not at the right person yet. It's kitty, yep the kitty won!!! She only says it when she sees the kitty and it is so cute. i guess she heard mommy and daddy saying that she was gonna say their name first, so to not disappoint either one she chose kitty.

I just got back this morning from SLC where I went to the Reba & Kelly Clarkson concert with my friend, Amanda. It was AWESOME!!!! The are both such amazing and versatile singers. They're both just tiny little things with powerhouse voices. they sand each others songs and some new songs together. It was probably one of the best, if not the best, concert I've ever been to. Plus it was fun to go do something fun, not just work, by myself without a baby.

I can't believe it. In two short months our little girl will be a year old!!! Here are some facts about Lexi.

She now sleeps 9-10 hours straight at night!!
She doesn't really eat much solid food, just not interested. Unless, of course, it's goldfish or cherrios!!
Her vocabulary consists of "ba-ba""mama""dada""zaza""bobo" and "nana".
She loves to walk if you hold her fingers or she's holding on to something.
She loves going to the park and being in a swing.
She loves being tossed in the air or spun around, our little roller coaster rider.
She loves to "share" with mommy and daddy. If you tell her to give it to you she does. Or if you tell her "no" to something, she automatically give it to you.
She loves books as long as she's playing with them and you're not trying to read to her.
She loves to snuggle.
She has 2 teeth!!!!!

So, last Saturday Scott and his brother Bryan jumped out of a perfectly good airplane!!!! They had a blast and thankfully came home safely. Anna and I hung out and cried together watching "Charly", which Scott never lets me watch when he's home. Then we went and got Sonic which Scott also doesn't like. It took me a week but I finally got the DVD converted into a file I could post, so here's Scott's skydiving experience......

The other day I received this beautiful blanket from Lexi's great-grandma Rook. She felt that it fit Lexi perfectly which I have to agree with the little butt in the air and mischievous look on her face. I loved strawberry shortcake when I was a child and had a blanket that was my favorite. so thank you grandma Rook!!!

9 Months Old!!!!

Today my baby girl is 9 months old!!! She is closer to one than newborn. I can't believe how the time has flown. She brings such joy and happiness into our lives. Here are a few things about her now:

She is sleeping almost all the way through the night. She gets up once maybe twice a night now.
She has finally decided to crawl on her hands and knees. She is a little speed racer now.
She wants to pull to a stand on everything.
She will walk while holding onto our hands or some stationary object like the couch or coffee table.
She does not want to eat baby food any more, even the home made stuff. She wants "grown up" food.
She still doesn't have any teeth.
She is still nursing every 2 hours, sometime 3, during the day.
She takes 2 naps a day, an hour in the morning and usually a 2 hour one in the afternoon.
She still loves the kitty and now catches her more often than not!!
Her favorite food is yogurt. Her favorite snack is yogurt bites. (Noticing a trend....)

Lexi can now sit up in the tub on her own!!! She loves it because she can splash a lot more than when in her seat and can also reach all of her toys better. Yesterday we went over to my friend Michelle's house and went swimming. We then decided to just bathe our kiddos together since they both needed it. The minute I put Lexi in the tub, Aiden dumped a cup of water over her head. I guess it's ok as long as Mommy or Daddy didn't do it!!! She didn't even make a sound. If we get water in her face she starts fussing.

All your directions start with, "Go down 95...'cause you don't want toget on 15."

Las Vegas Blvd, Charleston Blvd, and Torrey Pines have nobeginning and no end.It's impossible to go around a block and wind up on the samestreet that you started on. The Chamber of Commerce calls this a "scenic drive".

The 8:00 am rush hour is from 4:30am to 11:30am. The 5:00pm rush hour is from 11:30am to 10:15pm. Friday's rush hour starts on Thursday morning and ends sometime late Sunday night.

If you actually stop at a yellow light, then you cannot be fromLas Vegas. You may only apply your brakes when the end of a yellow light and the beginning of the red light create a "pumpkin-orange" hue.
